Enjoyed the pleasure, on the evening of the 26th of August, to wander the length of the Wellington Waterfront and take in its Lux Festival. A festival of lights and light. Kicked off at 6:00pm each night. Families get into the swing of things by coming down with kids wrapped in chemi-luminescents, great evening stroll attractors. It's the sort of festival that can happen along a waterfront that has a lot of different kinds of spaces and places that are all delightfully connected with walkways, pedestrian arcades, bridges, and all sorts of pedestrian links that are safe and free of traffic. (NB: Auckland can do this, but only if it decides pedestrian and public amenity should take priority. It can also only do this if it decides to plan the waterfront in an integrated way - rather than incrementally....)
Loved the colony of squids....
This part of the light show had a live act. A dancer....
The boatshed scene was a beautiful watercolour...
Thank you Wellington for a memorable evening. And I only got to see a little bit of it.
