Joel is a Planner specialising in urban, infrastructure, and economic development planning. He provides advice to project teams wanting a critical review of work in progress, or requiring a 'challenge team' input. In Auckland, Joel has taken a leading role in public policy decisions influencing transport, urban form and development, waterfront development, three waters, and environmental protection. His educational background is Physics, supplemented with a 2011 Masters in Planning Practice degree from University of Auckland where he was from 2011 to 2012 contracted to lecture and coordinate various courses for the Architecture and Planning School. He is now enrolled for post-graduate research into waterfront planning. His previous work experience includes a decade as a systems analyst in the UK on military, energy, and high tech communications projects.
